The farm derives its charming name from the legendary colony of turtles that was found on the land in the 1800's. Skilpadvlei has been in the hands of the Joubert family since 1917. Today, fourth generation
Willie Joubert upholds the proud family tradition of harnessing the rich potential of the land with a dedicated commitment to quality.

Skilpadvlei is a fully operational farm, with 60 of the 78ha under vineyards and also includes six self catering guest cottages, wedding and conference facilities as well as a restaurant and wine tasting area.

Attractions

 You can also fish black bass in the farm dam, or take a hike between the vineyards and enjoy all the panoramic views that the farm offers.

For the kids there are plenty of open spaces to play in and get rid of all that extra energy. There are also a variety of tortoises in the petting park.

The Skilpadvlei Restaurant is renowned for its great food and relaxed atmosphere and we are open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week.

It is the perfect venue to enjoy the daily special, that ranges from the delicious chicken pie on a Monday to the traditional Sunday buffet, with the amazing Stellenbosch mountains as a backdrop.

Outside seating is also available, weather permitting, and the kids have a playroom available as well as a jungle gym outside.

In the evenings we do small weddings and functions.

Weddings

 Wedding ceremonies and functions can be arranged at Skilpadvlei with various options available. The amazing scenery on the farm is a perfect backdrop for those special memories and photos can be taken in the garden, at the guest cottages, in the vineyards or at the dam.

Conferences

Skilpadvlei also boasts excellent conference facilities catering for up to a 120 delegates. Any conference can be fully catered to your specific needs and those of the delegates. The conference facilities are fully
equipped and also air-conditioned in summer and heated in winter.

Skilpadvlei is situated just 8 kms from Stellenbosch on the M12. So those delegates not staying on the farm can easily find accommodation.

WATERSKILPAD
(3 Bachelor units)

Open plan cottage with kitchen and living area, en-suite bathroom with shower. This cottage can sleep two people. Barbeque facilities, swimming pool, TV channels: M-NET, SABC 1,2,3 and e-tv.

All our cottages are self-catering / Al ons kothuise is selfsorg.Unfortunately we do not rent out our cottages for just one night over weekends.

SUURPOOITJIE / ROOIPENS

Two bedroom cottages with 2 en-suite bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and living area. Two additional single beds are also available in the living area.Own patio with braai facilities, swimming pool, TV channels: M-NET, SABC 1, 2, 3 & e-tv.
