Buffelsfontein Game & Nature reserve is situated on the R27 on the West Coast.

It is less than an hour’s drive from Cape Town city centre and this makes it ideal for a quick get-away or day excursion.

This once 1 600ha cattle farm came under ownership of Mr Paul Loubser in 1993 who realized the potential of the land to serve as a reserve and tourist destination. The infrastructure started changing over time with the introduction of a restaurant, bar and accommodation. Only smaller animal species could also be introduced at this time because of the weak perimeter fencing.

In the summer of 2000 Buffelsfontein had a huge set-back with a large destructive fire that destroyed almost everything on the then called cattle farm. This destruction included a high percentage of fencing, building structures, plant and animal life.

In the following years Buffelsfontein cattle farm literally stood up from the ashes and transformed into the successful Game & Nature reserve it is today.

Bush Camp
We have a bush camp in the dunes. This is for the adventurous at heart that does not mind going back to basics. We supply the tents and the bedding. There is running water and 4 x showers with hot water and 2 x flush toilets. In the camp there is a braai area as well. There is no electricity.

Day Trips

The perfect day excursion for tourists in the Cape Town / Cape West Coast area are our Day Trips. The Day Trip includes Shuttle service to and from pre-arranged areas, breakfast on arrival, 2-3 hour game drive, lunch and afternoon tea.

4 X 4 Route

The 4 x 4 route is a must for the adventurous at heart. The route is situated in sand dunes and can be a surprisingly pleasant challenge for all 4 x 4 lovers.

Facilities

The accommodation units are situated near waterholes where the animals come to quench their thirst, so you can sit back and relax and have your own game viewing experience. We offer self-catering and full board accommodation.

Self catering accommodation
All the self catering units are fully equipped with cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery, linen and private braai areas.

Two 2 bed chalets
Two 4 bed chalets (open plan)
A 20 bed guesthouse - it has 6 en-suite rooms all with beautiful views, a loft area with 8 three-quarter beds, a a very spacious open plan living area with a fireplace.

Full board accommodation
Five luxury cottages overlooking a natural spring. Each cottages consists of 2 en-suite rooms, lounge area and both rooms in the cottage are air-conditioned. The full board accommodation includes lunch, dinner, breakfast, accommodation and a game drive.

Weddings:
With its tranquil setting and majestic beauty Buffelsfontein is the perfect setting for a wedding.

You can choose between an outside ceremony on the lawn opposite the spring or have the ceremony inside the Lapa that overlooks the spring.
For the reception you can choose between the Lapa area, 80 guests with a dance floor or the "Dorsvloer" that can accommodate up to 250 guests with a dance floor.

We offer different buffets for private functions: Braai buffet, Spit buffet and Regular buffet.

CONFERENCES

Buffelsfontein offers unique conference packages. It is in a tranquil environment that is the perfect setting for a conference or team-building session
