The Grand Daddy Hotel

The Grand Daddy Hotel

Description

Luxury shouldn’t exclude playfulness so The Grand Daddy has infused all its rooms and communal spaces with magical creative touches to ensure that guests are pleasantly surprised by the unexpected, the humorous and the interesting.

The Grand Daddy’s warm and hospitable staff will guide you through this gentle journey throughout your stay by offering little-known information about the surrounds and the history whilst also performing the necessary business of hotels in a calm and caring manner.

Of course, The Grand Daddy’s big talking point is its ‘penthouse’ trailer park, where a collection of vintage Airstream caravans nestle beneath the backdrop of Table Mountain. Each of the 7 two-sleeper trailer suites have been conceptualized and designed by local artists and makes for an accommodation destination like no other.

The Grand Daddy feels like a family-owned hotel and in some respects it is. It is a part of the Daddy Long Legs Group, who also brought us Cape Town’s original art hotel, Daddy Long Legs, and the Daddy Long Legs Self Catering Apartments. The philosophy is simple – provide excellent service, clean, comfortable rooms, a creative feel and charge less for it!

Accommodation

Superior Rooms

Chic yet delicately daring, the Grand Daddy’s rooms are subtle, stylish and silvery. Air-conditioned, en-suite and entertaining; the comforts of an internationally recognised four-star hotel room are made all the more delicious when peppered with clever local touches under the direction of Cape Town based décor-magician, Tracy Lynch.

Lampshades boast South African place names - from Poffadder to Polakwane - and headboards are bedecked with African-aloe silhouettes. Snug furry blankets add texture to cool cotton linen-whites, whilst geographic origami inspires you to plan your travels on silver-etched black globes.

Luxe out in your ensuite marble bathroom as you daydream about adventures, seeping in the ebb and flow of memories that you want to hold onto forever.

Sugar Daddy Suite

If you like to take your privacy and comfort seriously, then we seriously think you’ll love our Sugar Daddy Suites.

The Sugar Daddy Suites (there are two separate suites) have their own secluded, wooden-decked patios, elegant lounges with plasma TV, king-size beds and deluxe bathrooms.

It’s the kind of place you wont want to leave – thank goodness Cape Town is so full of gorgeous places and peolpe and things that you’ll be convinced to make the trip outside.

Airstream Penthouse

A gleaming fleet of seven iconic American Airstream trailers have packed up their corndogs and tucked away their picnic blankets to roost on the rooftop of The Grand Daddy Hotel. Here, the quintessential African skies and the alluring outline of Cape Town’s Table Mountain are reflected in the polished aluminium of the American Dream.

Peek inside – there’s more! Each of the seven trailers has been handed over to some incredibly creative Capetonian soul to find new life through playful, eccentric and dazzling décor interpretations of how life in an Airstream can be.

Your Airstream is enclosed by a tidy garden complete with US Postal Service mailboxes. Watch an outdoor movie on hot summer nights at The Pink Flamingo Cinema and find an excuse to make this the destination for your next gathering of family and friends.

All the Airstreams are air-conditioned, incredibly well-insulated, have hot and cold running water, flushing toilets and showers. For those who want to pimp their park life and flash their trailer trash – or for those who simply want to experience the world’s only trailer park penthouse suite - just take the vintage elevator to the third floor, take the rooftop exit and enter the adventure.

The Daddy Cool Bar

The Grand Daddy’s hotel bar is the ‘blingest’ in the land. It’s not just a cool bar, it’s a Daddy Cool bar! A palette of metallics and a roll-call of hip South African creatives come together in a magpie’s delight. White leather, shimmery surfaces, dangly bling chains and quirky gold treasures in jewel boxes set the scene for much shiny celebration.

Daddy Cool is perfect for sharing a bottle of champagne or sampling some sexy cocktails: our bar staff is of the master class when it comes to perfecting the mix and shake. An extensive wine list will thrill the connoisseur and whisky drinkers will be warmed by the diverse array of single malts.

Laid-back DJ’s hit the decks from time to time but mostly Daddy Cool is just a great place to hang out, unwind and meet. Capetonians are quite partial to Daddy’s charms so expect to find a few of them sipping on their Mojito’s and Martini’s.

The corridor to Daddy Cool is flanked by Cape Town’s only digital art and photographic gallery. Keep an eye on the screen as contributions from the cities top talent showcase the beauty and culture of Africa’s creative mecca.

The Showroom Café

Legendary Cape Town chef, Bruce Robertson, has teamed up with the exceptionally capable and impressively experienced, Simoné Rossouw to create a very yummy corner café right here at The Grand Daddy.

Start with breakfast! The Showroom Café serves an excellent range – try a different one each day of your stay – and has a variety of ‘good mood food’ options for lunch and dinner.

The daily marketplace is a tempting spread of buffet salads, hot bakes and curries and gorgeous home-baked breads – you can also go a la carte. Eavesdrop on Capetonians doing business over your morning coffee and papers, dine on fresh fish or a good cut of meat at dinner or indulge yourself with a night in and some room service. Note the extensive wine list too!

The Showroom Café always chooses fresh (preferably organic) and saves you a few calories by skipping on butter and cream wherever possible. Look out for the Proudly South African icons to take your tastebuds traveling.
