Today Alberton is a major residential, commercial and industrial centre. It has achieved a population growth which over the last 30 years has almost doubled every ten years, and has furthermore enjoyed a rapid growth in popularity as an industrial centre – many large South African companies are situated here, including the largest brewery on the African continent. Situated only 20 minutes to the southeast of Johannesburg, Alberton enjoys close proximity to all major freeways, as well as the Johannesburg International Airport.
